hi everyone,
i am engineer working with graphite plates... i have a tough time
detecting cracks in these plates.
is it possible to use IR method for crack detection ....
also if the plates are sandwiched together , would this method still work
it would be great if some one on the forum could help me out on this issue.

Hi!
We have experience with that using our lock-in thermography solutions.
We can extract phase and amplitude information from the IR image while modulating the sample with a suitable heat source. Cracks will show up that are usually invisible to conventional thermographic applications.
